Cheesy and sectarian
The technical aspects of the show were quite impressive. First-rate were the sound, visuals, and special effects. Yoasobi delivered top-notch performances. The venue is gorgeous and iconic. However, the product placements were overdone and distracting. Reminiscent of a 1950's view of Christmas was much of the production, including an overwhelmingly White cast (My wife and I are White, BTW). The finale was overtly religious and reminded us of Cecil B. DeMille's film, "The Ten Commandments", but not in a good way. Christmas celebrates the birth of Christ, yes, but a show that seeks to reach a broad and diverse audience should keep a secular focus. If I want the religious aspect, I can go around the corner to St. Patrick's Cathedral.
